Mother's Day Fun

It was a very nice day- good company too!

After a nice lunch and relaxation, we all went to the park for a picnic dinner and playtime. We went to the local ice cream parlour for a scoop too! Perfect end to a very nice day!
Thanks Stew!
Being a mother has changed me in so many ways. I cry easier; I am more patient, more tolerant; I am less tolerant for things that may hurt my family (crazy drivers, creepy people); more conscious of the words that come out of my mouth and how I act- our children emulate who we are and I want my children to make a good difference in this world. The training starts NOW! I have irreparable skin stretching from my 9 1/2 lb child...thanks Mads! I now know what it means to be sentimental; I have found joy and laughter in the intricacies of my 2 year old; I have become reasonably selfless; I welcome this responsibility if it means that my children will have God, self confidence, love and true family sense; my priorities have changed with regards to work- it's simple- I don't want a stranger to raise them. This last one is still definitely a push and pull situation- but Stew and I have agreed that one of us will always be home for our children (Stew is a great stay-at-home dad!) I am in love with my husband and I love my children. Everything else will fall into place.

"Noisy Glasses"

What? you say.

What are noisy glasses?

Well, we (and when I say "we" I mean Stew) have been doing some renovations in our house. Stew has been completing the stairs by taking out the old yucky treads and putting in new beautiful fir treads. He is doing a marvelous job- but when he works, he wears safety goggles. Madeline has concluded in her mind that when daddy wears these glasses, noisy things happen (table saw, sander etc...). Logically, she calls the safety glasses "daddies noisy glasses". They will never be called safety glasses again... at least not in this house!

She likes to try them on and put them on her sister. Jenna does not think too much of Madeline doing this- but it is all in the name of safety!?

Easter Egg Hunt at the "Zoo"

So, I wanted to take Madeline to the Wildlife Park over the Easter holidays. We took her last year and she enjoyed it very much, so I knew that she would like it even more this year! She had so much fun gathering chocolate eggs, staring at "Uncle Chris the Clown" (the local clown guy) and talking about meeting the Easter bunny. She still talks about the "clown" and now almost everything she does or says is somehow connected to "clowns". Funny girl!
While Stew was renovating our stairs, I took the girls to the "Zoo" with Katherine and her little guy. (Jenna and "D" are 1 1/2 hours apart). While Mads and I were looking for eggs, Katherine took Jenna. You can see that Jenna fell asleep while leaning on "D". They have a weird little bond. He cries when Jenna's upset..?! It's pretty special.
Stew was so sad that he wasn't able to come with us that we went the next day too! Madeline sure got her hunting skills down! We even went on the miniature train that rides through the park. It was some good ol' fashioned family bonding!

I guess I'll have to buy water wings...

So, I always found it fun to think that Islands are just chunks of land floating around in the Ocean. My mind then wanders ...what would happen if someone dug a hole too deep... would the Island sink? Hence, the water wings...just in case!

All this to say that we are moving to Victoria! Yeah, Stew will be able to finally do what he has wanted to do for a LONG time!!!! Stew has been getting boxes from work, so many that our living room feels like a warehouse. Boxes full of empty boxes. Boxes stacked, boxes collapsed, boxes heavy, boxes to play with.....BOXES IN OUR WAY!

So anyway, on to the girls. Madeline's vocabulary is improving each day as she is now reciting her books just by looking at the pages- 30 paged books! Wow this girl has a memory!

Jenna is eating all by herself now, I just put finger food in front of her and she gobbles it up...with her right hand (sorry Dad, I don't think she'll be a lefty like Madeline). I remember when Madeline started doing this, she would shovel so much food into her mouth that she would choke and then spit it all out. Not our Jenna, just one or two little pieces at a time (except when it comes to cheerios!)
